Meet Lily Doyle
Throughout her life, Lily Doyle has had the opportunity to wear numerous “labels.” She has been “Ms. Doyle,” the art teacher; Mom of Brian and Chris; daughter; caretaker; sister; friend; and wife. She is deeply grateful and proud of all those roles and “wouldn’t trade them for the world.”
Surprisingly, she finds herself with a new identity. Some people may call it “reinventing yourself,” but to be honest, she feels like this new label “has been inside me my entire adult life.” It has been developing in her mind, heart, and soul, and now it’s finally emerging—“flowing out of me to the point where I’m radiating creativity.” Sometimes before she goes to sleep, Lily feels the need to sketch out ideas and images “just to clear my head so I can get some rest.”
Lily has taught art for over 25 years, both as a public school art teacher and an art event business owner. She has always known that she had her own unique art style inside her, but never truly dedicated the time to find out what it is—“actually, I didn’t have the time.” Fifteen years ago, she was a mother of twin boys, an art teacher, a breast cancer survivor, newly divorced, and a caretaker.
She didn’t think that having a professional art career was in the cards for her. But, as they say, it’s all about timing. For Lily, one particular painting with one timely message, seen on one particular day, made the timing just right. She is elated and proud of her latest label: Lily Doyle, Artist.

Lily’s Creative Voice
Lily is a Rowan University BFA graduate in Graphic Design. She calls herself a “Graphic Pop-Fauvist” because she loves using wild and bright colors to spark joy, creativity, and change. Recently, her artwork has reflected current events, inspiring her to design bold, meaningful works that communicate powerful messages. She is currently working on two series, both with an Americana theme. One featuring the iconic Liberty Bell and other, the American flag.
Another motivation behind her artwork is hometown nostalgia. Born in South Jersey and having family ties to Philadelphia, Lily feels like she grew up with the best of both worlds. As a result, she is drawn to paint fun and sentimental images from her youth, such as vintage diners, Jersey's famous juicy red tomatoes, the boardwalk, Philly skylines and the infamous Jersey Devil.
In the Studio
Lily works with acrylic paint on canvas. She also utilizes various repurposed papers, such as old wrapping paper, gift bags, wallpaper, and small objects that would most likely end up in landfills, such as dried-up markers, makeup containers, small plastics, and bubble wrap to create unique mixed-media artwork.
